Computer Class Descriptions

   mouse and mousepad CRLS offers free introductory classes designed for individuals who have little or no computer experience and want to update their skills.  Most classes have limited seating.  Individuals wanting to use a personal laptop should check with Pam Bean, Reference Librarian, phone 580-223-3164 or e-mail.

Computer Basics for Beginners


This class offers participants  a chance to become familiar with computer terminology; to learn about the physical parts of a computer; and to explore some of the functions and features of the Windows operating system. The class is a PowerPoint presentation with handouts. No computer experience necessary.

Computer Comfort Skills:  Tame the Mouse and Manage the Keyboard


This class offers participants hands-on training using the keyboard and mouse.  Fun learning activities will help participants gain the skills needed to take other CRLS classes.  No computer experience necessary.

E-Mail for the Absolute Beginner

 

An introduction to e-mail with hands-on exercises.   Participants will set up a free web e-mail account, learn how to compose, send and reply to messages.  Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.   Limited seating.

Exploring Word

 

An introductory class to word processing using Microsoft Word 2007. Learn how to create simple documents, enter and format text, save and use simple word shortcuts.  Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.  Limited seating.

Have a hard time finding files after you've saved them? Learn to save and organize your files.  Participants will practice using a USB or jump drive.  Participants should know how to use a mouse.  Limited seating.

An introductory class to the use of spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel 2007.  Participants will learn how to create and edit a simple spreadsheet and how to perform simple formatting techniques.  Participants should know how to use a mouse and have basic typing skills. Limited seating.

One-hour class designed to give novice users a brief introduction to the Internet.  Hands-on exercises give students a chance to explore the World Wide Web.  Participants should know how to use a mouse.  Limited seating.

Create Your Resume

        

Special class designed to assist individuals in updating or creating a professional resume.  Participants should bring the following information: education, awards, work experience, dates and job titles, volunteer work, a list of references and any other pertinent information to include in the resume.  Participants should know how to use the mouse and keyboard.  Limited seating.
